Jakoba's story
**Please email ksbt@juno.com for more information about me.  And please, WATCH MY VIDEO!**My name is Jakoba.  Im just over a year old, and I was brought to the shelter as a stray. I am a strikingly handsome boy, with beautiful markings, a super shiny and healthy brindle coat, and such soulful eyes you are sure to get lost in them.  Im also a shy boy.  A "fraidy" dog.  One thing staff initially noticed about me is that I do really well around other dogs.  I can feed off their confidence and energy level.  In a home, if I can live with a confident dog, I know how great I can do.  Actually,  I am in a foster home right now, and I am doing great!  I have watched the other dog getting along with you humans, and I have figured out how to enjoy the company of humans, too.   Im not so scared anymore.  If the resident dog loves you, I can see that and learn that, too!  If the resident dog goes outside and is happy and enjoys sunbathing in the back yard, well, I will do it, too.  Im very lovable, somewhat of a couch potato and I can be a lap dog.  I loved to play fetch and with my sister, and I really enjoyed snuggling with my human.  I did have some issues there, and thats why they brought me back.  I dont like to be confined in small spaces - like a kennel.  I really enjoyed exploring and having a good time in their back yard; however, if they left me alone in the yard, I could jump the 4 fence.  And I got scared when my humans left for periods longer than a few hours.  Id love a family that has someone home more often.  Ive been in a foster home for several weeks now, and Im really starting to get the hand of this whole family thing.  Oh Im still nervous and timid.  If kids are running around, I guess you could say I kinda panic.  I am descrived as sweet, timid, a calm boy, super loyal and very handsome.  I love to sleep right by my foster moms feet when she is working on the computer.   I have a foster dad, and a 15-year-old boy and a 9-year old girl in the foster home along with cat and dog.  My foster dad works from home, so I have a human and other animals around a lot of the time.  My human sis loves to work with me.  She is helping me overcome my fears.   Im learning to snuggle, and I really love it.  Im a super big fan of peanut butter.  Do you like peanut butter?   I am doing great with their dog, and Im less anxious.  I even am fine with CAT!  Im still timid around new people.  I have a different kennel now, and I am ok staying in it when my  foster family leaves.  I was scared of the stairs in the house and first, and foster mom said I was clumsy when using them.  Id never seen them before!  But now Ive mastered those dang stairs.  They are actually kinda fun.  Im coming out of my shell and blossoming here.  I need another chance at a wonderful life.   Do you have a dog that needs a pal and can help me learn the ropes?  Got a CAT that needs a friend?  A shy and fearful dog, with just a little extra patience and love, can become the dog of your dreams.  Just ask anyone who has ever adopted a dog who lacks trust.  Once we warm to living in a home, we are the most loyal, the most devoted, the most loving, and the sweetest dogs around.  Plus we make great playmates and sidekicks for your own dog.  The one thing youll need to remember is that it will take time.  Im scared.  I need time to bond.  And as a shy and fearful dog, my bond develops more slowly.  Dont leave me out in your fenced yard until we completely trust each other, ok?  Ill stay with you and love you forever once weve bonded and I know you are my family.   Its not that I dont want to fit in.  I want to so much.  I am learning how to now.The world is scary, and I just have to take it a day at a time and learn that new things are good things!  If you are looking to rescue a dog that needs you more than anything in this world, then please think about adopting me.  Im going to make a great dog, I just know I am.  Please, please, give me the chance to win your love.  And please, if you take me home, please have the patience and the understanding to stick with me and give me the time I need to trust you completely.   Thank you for reading about me.  I hope to meet you soon.Love from Jakoba
